Attorney Matt Dellinger
Matt's values are clear and unwavering: help clients achieve their goals and solve their problems by delivering honest, reliable, and cost-effective advice and advocacy. He provides his clients with years of experience and the advantage of knowing they will receive timely, personal attention with practical strategies tailored to the specific client. He answers clients' questions respectfully and clearly so the client understands the strategy and what to expect, remaining loyal and focused on the client's best interests.
Matt is a graduate of Davidson College, where he pitched and served as a captain on the baseball team, and earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he served as an editor on the Southeastern Environmental Law Journal, participated in the John Belton O'Neall Inn of Court, and received recognition on the Dean's List while working 20-30 hours per week at local law firms. After law school, Matt worked as a litigation attorney in boutique law offices handling complex civil litigation and later in a large multi-state defense litigation firm, primarily representing insurance companies and the individuals and businesses they insured. His background affords his clients a wealth of perspective and experience.
In addition to his practice of law, Matt serves his community using his education, skills and talents in ways he believes helps fulfill a civic duty while providing him the gratification of giving back to interests of great importance to him. He has been a member of the Town of Davidson Planning Board and Board of Adjustment since 2017 and has been reappointed annually to serve as the Chair of those boards since 2018. This volunteer work has involved analyzing and rendering opinions and recommendations concerning the Town's Planning Ordinance, land use plans, and development projects and proposals in accordance with statutory standards, as well as serving on standing and ad-hoc committees with other community and regional leaders targeting key initiatives. In his role on the Board of Adjustment, Matt conducts quasi-judicial hearings to render decisions on appeals of administrative planning decisions, variance requests, ordinance interpretations, and Watershed Review Board determinations (e.g., Density Averaging Certificates). He also serves as an Elder at Davidson College Presbyterian Church and has helped chair DCPC's Endowment Committee.
Matt lives with his wife and their two sons in Davidson.
